Howdy. Welcome back. First, Happy Year Of The Water Dragon. May it bring you(and yours) health, prosperity + happiness. Have been drawing Water Dragons as immersing myself in the Chinese zodiac animal of the year is how I recenter myself artistically. I started in the Year of The Water Horse, and the dragons are reminding me a little of that. Doing them digitally with Autodesk's Sketchbook (bargain of a program) on my iPad. Instead of buying paint, paper or pens this year, I acquired a refurbished printer from Canon that did a good job of printing out the first batch.
Next step: to distibute them to family + friends. I like that part of my Chinese New Year tradition. It's a chance to reconnect with the people I like to talk to.
Music I've been listening to: Joan Jett's Up Your Alley. Really enjoying her cover of Chuck Berry's "Tulane" and "You Want In, I Want Out" still holds up as the reason I bought the album. That and the cover. On a pop note, happy Selena Gomez's "Love You Like A Love Song" has resurged on the radio. Love the video.
Comic-wise, loving Demon Knights, Legion of Monsters and looking forward to Night Force so seem to be in a fantasy/monster mood. Except the Jughead, Kevin Keller, Archie and Kiss habit. Betty or Veronica? Have an opinion? And back on monsters: does anyone else want the Criterion Godzilla or at least a poster of the cover?
Have been posting regularly on the new Blink Kitty Love Signs of the iApocalypso art Tumblr. You need to be checking in there, or following the fun on @blinkkittylove, which will get you everywhere Blink Kitty Love you need to be.
I'll leave you with my latest two dragons, one cartoony, one not so and my thanks for stopping by. Soon, back to tongue twisters or some other silliness. Stay tooned!
Working on something with ninjas. So far, there's quite a bit of pink, but hey, that just means it's us.(We are still in search of mood: ninja appropriate music; it does not also have to be pink.)
Have you checked out the Blink Kitty Love Tumblr yet? Not quite so goofy art is being posted on a REGULAR schedule.
Any playoff thoughts? We can't see anyone stopping the Packers without stomping Rodgers but we do miss games where defense matters and the score equals < 30. We suspect a Packers-Patriots shootout might end up 45-42 and that's a basketball half time score. Not what we want to see. Oh and the Women's Pro Soccer Draft happened today. Do you have a favorite team? Get one. Now.
Winter X Games are starting in two weeks. We're getting excited for our favorite snowboarders. Follow us on Twitter for live tweeting fun.
And go vote for Spiritgreen's OctoNinja. We're not octopus/tentacle shirt people but we are sumi excellence on cream ninja people. You should be too.
Yes, we are working on tongue twisters, but we wanted to pause and bring you a bit of holiday goofiness, as well as wish you a Happy Hanukkah, a Serene Solstice and/or a Merry Christmas. And if we forgot a holiday, educate us.
Or
And if you've never partied in the company of a red Solo cup or don't find Toby Keith's ode at least mildy amusing, please keep stopping by. We can help you with the lost sense of humor thing ; )
Ok, actually monster tongue twisters. We like monsters, you know that. And we like tongue twisters, which we've been finding out thanks to the tweeteriffic tips and twisters of @VOvoiceactor. And then there was our author of the recently published Feedstore Chronicles handy for discussing grilling and bacon buddy @traviserwin, who said this: "There ought to be a woodchuck type tongue twister involving Sasquatches in Saskatchewan." We, of course, just now realized we forgot the Saskatchewan part, but that can be amended. So, anyway, we RTed the tongue twister request and @VOvoiceactor folks (who are also creating a fun and funny little series called Shelf Life) did us a favor and said come up with one yourself. So thank you and here it is. We'll add in Saskatchewan (or something close, feel free to shuffle it around and see if it works better before skateboards):
Monster Tongue Twister #1 (Because you really want a bunch of them)
We love Halloween. We celebrate it pretty much all the way through October. Tonight, we carve/paint pumpkins for your amusement and ours. Enjoy!
Also, anybody else finding China Anne McClain's "Calling All The Monsters" a very danceable addition to the limited collection of Halloween themed tunes available?
Caught a Twilight spoof on iCarly. Funny. Nathan Kress did a highly amusing take on the slouchy puffy coifed cheekboned slow speaking man of fang dripping mystery. If you're going to do/have done a Twilight spoof and it is actually funny, please annouce it as loudly as you can (and/or drop a link in the comments) because we like those.
Trying to pick a mood: October and we have decided on MONSTER. This way we get to watch a lot of fun movies and stomp around (only one or two of us) the entertainment center pretending to destroy cities (ala Lilo and Stitch). Have you seen Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth? It's a hoot. What's your favorite movie monster? Or comic book? We will accept Fin Fang Foom votes. Also possibly Groo votes, if we're talking monster sized destruction levels.
And here's our first bit of October costume fun, where we answer the only question anyone's been asking since pictures of the actors from Twilight debuted.
Yes, we have been spending a bit too much time at the local green + marine themed coffee hangout. And all they keep playing is 1, the collection of Beatles #1 singles. And we don't like it anymore. We never really liked it much. The trouble is, we know all the words, so we sing along EVEN IF (and this is important), we can't stand the song. The staff is starting to look a bit wild eyed, with increased muttering, and we worry what we'll see and hear the next time we need a latte fix. (For the record: TK, green tea latte + Ringo; Ty, coffe, black + Paul; Tinker, pumpkin spice latte with soy + silly love songs; Tammy, depends on her day and mood, but usually involves double or triple something + Lennon when he was pretty).
And here's what we fear next week might look like:
Football season's a coming and we're in two fantasy leagues. So today we grabbed USA Today's Fantasy Football issue and decided it'd be fun to imagine ourselves as team owners and logo designers. So here's what we'd call our teams, if we had them (and if you have the sleeper pick of the season in your pocket, leave us a hint in the comments, please.)
And finally, the map shirt we have been longing for has printed at Goodjoe. This makes us happy dragon fanatics (dragons play football with their actual feet being European and Asian in origin and therefore do not make good mascots for American football teams. But they make excellent shirts.) Update: Goodjoe sent us a friends and family* coupon code for 30% off and free shipping + a free tote, even if it's only one shirt. So click on the dragon and use the code (good 'til 9/1):
